With the exception of the last two songs these are all pure pop classics. I love this CD. Mother Mother is the definition of easy listening. They are modern musical geniuses.

1) O My Heart
Good choice for the first song. It is a good introduction to the rest of the CD. Nice progression, tempo, and harmony. Simple but not so simple that it is boring. It gives a good first impression. The drumming is slightly more complex in O My Heart than the songs on the rest of the CD which makes me like this song more than the next one on the CD.

2) Burning Pile
A bit too slow for my tastes, however the tune requires it to be so. The background singers and trumpet are very enchanting in this song and I really like the layering after 3 minutes. Progression is great once again in this song. Mother Mother is pretty good with that sort of stuff.

3) Body of Years
Great lyrics. This one is the first Mother Mother song I had the pleasure of listening to. I loved it right away. Catchy, great to sing along with and it really holds your attention. They play the chorus the perfect amount of times, which is refreshing. I usually get annoyed when a band doesn’t play the refrain enough times (and I get even more annoyed when they put it in too much)

4) Try to Change
Not one of my favourite songs on the CD but still a pretty good one. I love all the sounds of the words. It is pretty clear that they put a lot of thought into their choice of lyrics. I barely ever listen to the actual lyrics of songs but I do listen the different sounds the words make and I can tell you that this song has some exceptional uses of alliteration

5) Wisdom
I LOVE this song. In the beginning the screeching of the guitar strings kind of annoys me though I can understand that they just wanted the natural sound. I like the lyrics and the way they put the song together. I also love the way the song winds down after 2:30. Nice to see that some bands know how to end songs with out a traditional bang at the end.

6) Body
B
eautiful lead in. It is a great idea for this kind of song. I love how the battle drumming (haha, I just made that term up) works with the message of the song. Each time I listen to this song I like it more and more.

7) Ghosting
Absolutely beautiful song the whole way through. There is not one harsh sound through out the whole song. Even the drumming is soft. This one is just pure beauty, I wish there were more songs like this. The lead sing has so much emotion in his voice and the background singers do a spectacular job near the end. Just like Wisdom, this song winds down perfectly.

8) Hayloft
Hilarious. That is the only word I can use to describe Hayloft. The background singer’s voice is sounds so young, I can’t help but laugh. Definitely worth a listen.

9) Wrecking Ball
I like this song more with every listen. I like the lyrics more than most of the previous songs, somehow the others seemed a little empty. I love the piano, it is so upbeat J
*I think this part sounds like Avril Lavigne: 1:38 - 1:47*

10) Arms Tonite
Great song. Uber cute. So so simple yet so beautiful. Fantastic harmony, without the simplicity of the instruments the song would be ruined. Mother Mother keeps impressing me with their layering of the different voices.

11) and 12) Miles and Sleep Awake
The CD should not have these last two songs on it. I don’t like either of them. I’m not even going to get into why I don’t like them because I’m pretending they are not on the CD, therefore they won’t get reviewed. Very disappointing end to a otherwise incredible CD.

I'd give this CD a 8 out of 10
Major points were lost because of the last 2 songs. Definitely worth buying no matter what type of music you like.

I think this Death Cab CD has the best melodies but i must say the lyrics are much worse than in their other CDs. I'm so excited to see them at Sasquatch this year!

1) The New Year
Perfect start to the CD. It is good enough to keep the listeners attention but doesn't overpower the rest of the CD. Just the right amount of catchy. Plus it's really fun/easy to sing along with ;)

2) Lightness
I used to think it was too slow but now I don't even notice anymore. I really enjoy the subtle emotion in Benjamin's voice at times. My only critique is I think the drumming could be a bit more creative to suit the song more.

3) Title And Registration
I used to get so annoyed with this song. Too much repetition of the same sound with different lyrics annoys me. Probably my least favourite song on the album at the moment, though i do like the part where the background singer joins in singing "collide"

4) Expo '86
The first song i got stuck in my head. Very simple yet extremely catchy. Pretty good all in all. I like how the music swells at around 1:55, it really saves the song. I think it's better than the other songs in the way that it progresses.

5) The Sound Of Settling
Really catchy, DO NOT listen to it too many times or you will start to hate it. It's upbeat and good to listen to if you need to be cheered up
*random fact: whenever I hear this song I think of Social Studies and Selkirk's Settlers, which is what we were learning about in school when I started listening to this album*

6) Tiny Vessels
I like how it goes from a soft sound to a rocker one. 2:50 and on is my favourite part. The lyrics are better than some of the other songs on this CD. I don't think the song would be nearly as good if the lyrics were as mediocre as the others. Definitely not my favourite song but it's still a pretty decent song.

7) Transatlanticism
I used to hate this song and skip it every time, I thought it was way to slow for me and didn't find it catchy enough. Now, however, I love it. The trick is being in a calm mood when you listen and turn it up REALLY loud. You have to feel the sounds. If you are in the right mood it is an absolutely beautiful song.

8) Passenger Seat
Too slow for me to listen to all the time, but it has a really beautiful melody. Very calming and it has a nice pure sound. His voice reminds me of bells. I really like their choice of not having any instruments other than a piano (which is basically just mimicking the chorus the whole time) and some ambient noise in the background. If I was asked to describe it in one word I would say "peaceful"

9) Death Of An Interior Decorator
HAHAHA
The high note is HILARIOUS
Listen to it, I swear to god, it's enough of a reason to buy the whole freaking CD.
It's so unexpected! But honestly, I love the song. The drumming is really unique for Death Cab and the whole song is oddly catchy. Listen to it PLEASE.

10) We Looked Like Giants
I didn't like this one so much at first but now I LOVE it. It's probably my favourite song on the CD. It's more rock-y than the others but it doesn't lose any of it's beauty. The drumming is great, the tune is wonderful, and somehow Benjamin's mellow voice suites the song, even though it's heavier than usual.

11) A Lack Of Color
Personally, I like CDs end with a bang. That definitely didn't happen on this one.
I find this song to be the most boring one on the CD. I can see they wanted to wind down a little after a stronger song like "We Looked Like Giants" but to me it made A Lack Of Color sound utterly ridiculous after such an amazing song. Though the lyrics were cute I think A Lack Of Color was a pretty pathetic song.

I would give the CD a 7.5 out of 10
Almost every song was good and they all sound very different which is refreshing.
A good CD for you if you enjoy slower, more calming music.

I just got this cd a little while ago. My first opinion was that it was annoyingly catchy and that the songs had no depth, but after a few more listens I realized the songs are more complex than what they seem.

1) Doot Doot Plot
A good choise for the first song on the cd, not too fast or too slow. The kind of thing you would want to bob your head to. Slightly annoying to listen to by itself but if you are doing something while listening it is perfect.

2) Builds The Bone
Too slow for me but still a good melody. Sounds sort of like a ballad. Very simple and soothing. But the music swelling about halfway through makes it sound a bit cheesy to me. After that it sort of heads downhill. I guess the best way to describe it is "a background song in a cheesy movie"

3) Fear Is On
This song is the whole reason i bought the cd. it has a very strange tempo: faster than a normal pop rock song but slower than a fast one. Catchy to a fault. Very feel good.

4) That's When The Ceremony Starts
Very elementary sounding at the begining. sounds almost like a nursery rhyme but when it hits the chorus it gets better.

5) I Believe In The Good Of Life
I don't remember if I liked this song the first few times I heard it but I know now it's one of my favourites on the cd. The beat in the background can get a bit annoying though.

6) In The Union Of Wine
Love this song. The piano works well with it and the drumming is more interesting than in the other songs. This song sounds like it has a lot more in it than the others which i like as well. They even have overlapping voices for the first time on the cd 3/5 of the way through (gasp)

7) Music Is My Boyfriend
Beware: this song is very easy to get caught in your head. nice chorus. a good song through and through. Most  likely the Hidden Cameras most popular song. I could see that happening.

8) Bboy
I used to like this song. Right now i have absolutly no clue how/why. It is the most annoying song on the cd. Spare yourself, don't listen to this one. You might like it the first 3 times you listen to it but after that you will regret having listened to it. Those stupid little bong bong bong noises will never leave your mind.

9) We Oh We
As I said before i'm not a huge fan of slow songs but this one is pretty good. it is very repetitive but the tune is catchy enough (in a good way) that it is alright.

10) I Want Another Enema
Catchier everytime i hear it but still not quite at the same level as the other songs on the cd. Definitely not my favourite song but it's still okay. The best way to describe it would probably be "mediocre"

11) Mississauga Goddam
The first few times I listened to it I didn't like it but now it's one of my favourite songs on the cd. Its pretty simple but at the same time not too repetitive and the melody is nice. It REALLY grows on you, trust me

So overall i'd give the CD a 7 out of 10
Even though the simplicity of the songs is part of the charm it's a bit TOO simple for me.
So if you like really catchy songs and don't mind lack of progression in them then this is the CD for you.
